SCHOOL AGENDAS (grade 3-5) The purpose of these agendas is to provide organizational skills for student success. Time will be set aside for each student to record the assignments in his/her agenda, to make notes of test dates and project completion dates. For each day there is a section that allows for home-school communication. we ask all parents to provide some daily time at home to check the agendas and to discuss with their child any information that is written for each day. All times teachers may make comments in this section. We also encourage parents to respond or to make any comments of their own. It is the student's responsibility to take his/her agenda home and to return it to school on a daily basis.
EXCUSSIONS Field trips ands excursions offer children wonderful first-hand experiences to introduce or follow a learning unit of study. Children can respond creatively and academically to these experiences when they have been involved in the real experience. When excursions are planned, a notice will go home to you outlining the details for the trip. Please sign and return the notice promptly. We appreciate your support through funding and through volunteering to supervise children. Glendale considers field trips to be a valid part of a child's educational program. From time to time children will go on community walking excursions. A common walking form notice will be sent home by the teacher early in the year giving permission for the child to participate in these trips. These trips may include walking to the Public Library, a pond study unit at the park, etc.
SPECIAL EVENTS Children grow and learn through a variety of activities within and outside the school. You will be informed of special events as they occur. These may include musical and dramatic presentations, storytellers, student workshops, etc. In most cases, special events are funded through the work of our School Council. Pizza days, and other fundraising ventures raise the money to enable Glendale students to experience these events
